Chic Chandeliers

A touch of blink is always beautiful.g. What better way to incorporate the blink factor to your event than the forever-elegant Chandeliers.
Ballrooms, haciendas, and even tents and gardens, are perfect for chandeliers. Chandeliers add a feel of elegance to a contemporary-modern wedding and bring an extra luxurious effect to the classic reception. Have Chandeliers as a feature in your wedding, you will thank me later!

Rules for a Statement-Making Dessert Buffet

One of my favorite “trends” for weddings is the famous dessert/candy buffet. Unfortunately, I have seen a lot of dessert buffets with a style that look more appropriate for a kids birthday party than for a wedding. This kills the whole concept and trend. Look at your dessert buffet as you would see your cake; it should be delicious but at the same time be a decorative part of your event.
Today I encourage using these basic rules and examples to make a statement with your dessert buffet:
1. The first and most important rule is that your dessert bar should follow your theme and color scheme in a creative and tasteful way.
2.The plates or bases must be similar in shade and shape. They could even be decorated to match your wedding theme.
3. Wraps are not allowed. Please get rid of them!!!
4. The cookies, lollipops, macaroons or whatever sweets you choose to include in your buffet should preserve the colors of your wedding and even be decorated to go with your wedding theme.
5. The table cover and the background (if possible) should follow or compliment your theme and color palette as well.
6. To bring your concept alive, decorate your candy buffet to match your wedding and make use of the same elements you utilized with your general decoration. Flowers, feathers, ribbon and broaches are great options.
7. Last but not least, you can utilize petite boxes or bags as packaging so your guests can take home some of the treats. Don’t forget to include some personalization elements to keep the fabulosity.

An extra element to take your dessert table to the next level, you can have each dessert with a sign or tag to identify what is it. For example, “mini coconut cupcakes”. The tags should follow your theme (color, font, and paper).

Tablescapes

We had the pleasure to attend the El Paso Pro-Musica Guild Tablescapes contest. It was a beautiful event full of talent and it was very inspiring to us. These are some of my favorite Tablescapes photographed by The French Vue. Which one is your favorite?

{Unique Engagement Session}: Sarah + Aaron

I’ve got a funny feeling you’re going to go just as crazy about these as I did. Words can’t even describe them, really can they? Sarah and Aaron are a super cool, unique couple from El Paso (oh yes this couple is local woohoo) who certainly added that little bit of cool to their engagement shoot. The Amazing photography is by another new, but very talented photographer Jessica Santiesteban from Ideology photography.
“Sarah is currently attending Texas Culinary Academy (Cordon Bleu Program) in Austin. Aaron, in the other hand does piercing at House of Pain Tattoo in El Paso, so you can imagine how interesting and amazing it was to do their engagement session,” Says Jessica . Their wedding will be at Austin in the Fire Lake Event Center, April 2011. Edited by Jacqueline Garcia

{A Magic Destination Wedding}: Cyndie + Scott

I bring you a wedding that is total magic. It took place in the beautiful historic town of Antigua, Guatemala. The bride and groom are from Austin, but the bride used to live in Las Cruces, NM and her mother still lives in El Paso, so it's kind of a “local wedding”. Photographed from Dan Dalstra this gorgeous wedding is one of a kind.

“While they were engaged, Cyndie and Scott went to the small town of Antigua, Guatemala to visit Scott's sister who lives there. They immediately fell in love with the narrow cobblestone streets, historic churches, and old world charm nestled among three volcanoes. They had their ceremony on the rooftop of the Panza Verde hotel with a volcano as a spectacular backdrop for the wedding. After the ceremony, while the guests were enjoying the cocktail hour, they ran around the streets of Antigua for some romantic shots before heading back to the hotel for the reception. Cyndie and Scott finished the night with a plunge into the hotel pool to "Trash the Dress". "
"I absolutely love destination weddings because they are so intimate and very romantic with just the couple's closest friends and family. I was honored to be chosen as their photographer and in the process, I made life long friends," says Dan Dalstra.
